The UN estimates that only half of the 3 million refugees have yet to receive desperately needed humanitarian relief - primarily because of targeted violence against aid efforts by the Janjaweed militias. Crimes against African Children: The Murder and Rape of Our Future Hope

A wise man once observed that the only thing required for evil to triumph is for good people to sit back and do nothing. Well evil is triumphing against thousands of children of northern Uganda . Little boys and girls are being violently seized from their homes and forced to do things that no little child should even have to know about, let alone be part of.

"There can be no keener revelation of a society's soul than the way in which
it treats its children."

- Nelson Mandela

The African American Self-Help Foundation is dedicated to helping others overcome difficulty and achieve lives of dignity and value. Our primary focus is on the most vulnerable members of our global society: the children.

In sub-Saharan Africa:

We rescue orphaned and abandoned children who have lost their family members to AIDS and/or other devastation, and provide them with new lives of love and hope.

We provide poor children with support for a healthier and more productive future through feeding programs, medical care and education.
We help poor parents provide a better life for their own children through sustainable agriculture and clean water projects.

In the US:

We help single African American mothers achieve economic independence and provide a life of respect and hope for their children.

We invite you to join us in this work of empowerment and hope.

"Come, let us put our minds together to see what kind of life we can create for our children."

- Chief Sitting Bull
